Symantec Ghost Solution Suite 2.5 is the industry's
most widely-used corporate solution for imaging, deployment, and
ongoing management of client systems. It provides market
proven and trusted hardware-independent imaging, multicast deployment, operating
system migration, software distribution, PC "personality" migration (user
data, settings, and profiles), hardware and software inventory,
and secure system retirement.
Ghost Solution Suite for
Servers 2.5. With this release, Symantec is officially
extending the support of Ghost's industry-leading imaging capabilities
to x86/x64 server platforms. Customers have always been
interested in a version of Ghost for servers,
but the additional capabilities in GSS 2.5, such
as hardware independent imaging automation and VMDK image
creation, are driving even higher demand for Ghost
in this space. SMBs in particular, who often
use a consolidated team to manage deployments of
servers and PCs, will benefit from having a
common set of tools to accomplish this work.

How to license
Determine the
total units required by your customer
Individual licenses
must be purchased for each computer that will
ever give or receive a Ghost image. Each
corporate license allows IT staff to clone and
restore one computer (workstation or server) for its
entire lifetime, including unlimited re-applications, upgrades, refreshes, and
recoveries of its hard drive. ONLY if a
computer is permanently decommissioned can it's licensed image
be transferred to another machine, without needing an
additional license to restore the image.
Count the
total number of unique images to be created
using Symantec Ghost, and each image to be
restored using Symantec Ghost. This is the total
number of license units required by your customer.
Each image created and each image restored equals
one license.
