VShell Secure Shell server replaces Telnet

strong security with simple configuration on Windows and

and data integrity, you can confidently exchange electronic
data over public networks. Access control lists (ACLs)
and SFTP virtual directories equip administrators with fine-grained
control to comply with internal and external security
policies. "Triggers" can automate routine tasks, freeing valuable
time for network professionals. Support for FIPS 140-2:
VShell Server for Windows can run in FIPS
mode. If you need to protect data in
transit as outlined by FIPS 140-2 or NIST
800-53, VShell now has an administrative option to
run in "FIPS Mode". When this option is
set, only FIPS-approved algorithms are allowed. VanDyke Software
has partnered with RSA Security, Inc. to use
the BSAFE Crypto-C Micro Edition cryptography module which
has been tested by Atlan Laboratories, an accredited
testing laboratory for FIPS compliance. This module has
met all Level 1 requirements for FIPS 140-2
compliance when operated in FIPS mode. Fine-tuned control
for your server environments: VShell server offers a
broad range of controls that help you configure
your server environment to provide appropriate access and
privileges to every user on your network. Virtual
root directories allow you to control secure file
transfer access on a user and group basis.
Chroot users and groups and jail shell give
you the means to restrict users' file system
access and activities to their home directories. Access
control lists provide an efficient and straightforward interface
to allow or deny use of these services.
More choices for enterprise-wide authentication: You know that
using passwords for authentication presents a number of
security concerns. VShell allows you to choose from
a number of trusted authentication mechanisms including public
key, Kerberos, keyboard interactive, X.509 digital certificates, and
RADIUS servers using SecurID to create a much
more secure two-factor authentication strategy to control access
to your network. VShell editions match your needs
and budget: VShell is available in three editions
designed to meet the needs of every size
network and organization. Whether you are the only
one accessing a server for administrative tasks or
you are providing remote access, secure file transfer,
and data tunneling solutions for a large organization
with multiple locations, there's a VShell edition that's
just right for your needs. All VShell editions
offer the same features but allow you to
control costs by deciding how many concurrent connections
you need. VShell is available on the platforms
you use in your organization: Choose from Windows,
Linux, and a variety of *NIX platforms and
offer a consistent set of services with the
fine-tuned control and interoperability you expect from an
advanced Secure Shell server like VShell. What's new
in Vshell version 3.6.3? Changes: - Updated VShellConfig usage
message and Help page to include all settings
that can be excluded or included during an
import or export operation.
- UNIX: Only logs the
"Logging to the BSM failed" message if debug
logging is enabled.
Bug fixes: - Windows: Public-key authentication
could have failed for non-administrative users if VShell
was running on a domain controller.
- Windows: A
crash could have occured if an SFTP client
sent file system requests prior to VShell loading
the file system environment.
- VShell FTPS: Uploading multiple
small files could have resulted in some of
the files being truncated to zero bytes.
- vcp/vsftp:
Files that began with "." were not transferred.
VShell uses a FIPS 140-2 validated cryptographic library.
VShell can be installed in "FIPS Mode", which
